If you were on the fence about Rami Malek starring in the new Freddie Mercury/Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, then this first photo of the actor in character should be enough to change your mind.
Filming for the project began this month, and to mark the occasion, Entertainment Weekly has shared a look at Mr Robot star Rami as the Queen frontman – and, we have to say, it's pretty spot on.
Speaking about his first time in hair and make-up, Rami revealed that being able to recognise Freddie Mercury in himself was a great sign.
"When you're able to open your eyes and see a different person staring back at you in the mirror, it's a very affirming moment," he said.
"[Resembling the singer] only adds to the level of confidence that one would need to play Freddie Mercury."
And while it's clear that Rami can look the part, the actor admits that when it comes to sounding like Freddie Mercury, he's still working on it.
July 20, 1986 file photo, Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury is shown in Germany.
"We're going to use Freddie as much as possible and use myself as much as possible," he added. "I'm in Abbey Road [Studios] right now if that should say anything to you. I'm not working on my acting."
The outfit featured in the first-look photo resembles Freddie's look during Queen's performance at Live Aid in 1985, which will be recreated in the new film – as director Bryan Singer has already teased on Instagram.
According to EW, Singer described Bohemian Rhapsody as "not a traditional biopic", instead saying it would honour the music.
"It won't just be the dark Freddie story, but that being said, that also will be honoured," he said. "It's about collaboration. It's a celebration."
Bohemian Rhapsody has been slated for release on December 25, 2018.
