Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer will star in Mountain Rest, an indie drama that marks the directorial debut of writer-director Alex O Eaton.
Frances Conroy, Shawn Hatosy and Kate Lyn Sheil are also starring in the film, which is set to go into production Sept. 10.
The script centers on an aging actress who, after sequestering herself in a small mountain town, calls her estranged daughter and granddaughter home for reconciliation and one final celebration.
Fernando Loureiro and Roberto Vasconcellos of Exhibit and Renata Nascimento are producing the pic. Executive producing are Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Miles Joris-Peyrafitte and Márcia Mayer. Jonathan Gardner, Mark McDonald and Will Coble will co-executive produce. Ashley Connor is the cinematographer.
CAA will represent North American sales.
Loureiro and Vasconcellos’ Exhibit is a rising force in the indie sphere, last year producing Sweet Virginia, which starred Jon Berntham and Rosemary DeWitt, and Thumper, featuring Eliza Taylor and Lena Headey. Both premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. It is currently in postproduction on the film I Think We’re Alone Now, starring Elle Fanning and Peter Dinklage.
Dyer plays Nancy Wheeler on Stranger Things, the Netflix phenomenon that is set to return with its second season on Oct. 27. The actress is repped by WME, One Entertainment and attorney Marcy Morris.
Conroy, repped by Paradigm and Echo Lake Entertainment, recently appeared on Spike’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist and will return for the new season of American Horror Story, the FX anthology series that has earned her two Emmy nominations.
Hatosy, repped by Paradigm and MGMT Entertainment, stars on TNT’s Animal Kingdom.
Sheil will be seen on the big screen with Miles Teller in Thank You for Your Service as well as Brigsby Bear and currently appears on Cinemax's Outcast and Netflix's House of Cards. She is repped by UTA and One Entertainment.
Eaton is a Bard College grad who is repped by CAA, Grandview and attorney Greg Slewett.
